for Coed Seniors (65&older).

Dial-a-Ride
The “Dial-A-Ride” offers
door to door service for our senior citizens.
The
senior bus transports riders to different locations in the Township,
especially supermarkets, Springfield Avenue, Maplewood Village,
Maplewood Town Hall and the Maplewood Community Center.
The
service also makes a trip each month to Livingston Mall and will run
a
special service to other locations, which will be announced.
The “Dial-A-Ride”
Program is easy to use. All you have to do is call the
Maplewood Community Center
at (973)-763-0750 the day prior to the
day you wish to use the service.
Please indicate whether you would like
a
morning pick-up (between 9:15am and 10:00 am) or an afternoon
pick-up (between 12:15pm and 12:30 pm).
This will
reserve you a seat
on the bus.

Shop Rite Trips:
Among one of many courtesies offered is a bi-monthly Shop Rite Trip on
the 2nd and 4th Friday of every month. Call (973) 763-0750 at least 24
hours in advance for a reservation.
Senior Mall Trips:
There is also a Senior Mall Trip once a month to the Livingston Mall.
Anyone interested in going should call Michelle Wesley at

Walker Talkers: Senior Walking Team:
For seniors who enjoy fresh air, good company, and healthy a lifestyle.
The senior walking team, the "Walker Talkers" will meet the last
Saturday of each month at DeHart field to walk from 9:30am to
10:30am. This program is free to members of the Senior Club of
Maplewood.

Walk for Health :
Walk for health is a
program designed for senior citizens to get cardio-
vascular exercise through walking. This program also
includes an indoor
warm up, stretching, light
weight work, and a cool down.
Classes will run for 10 weeks beginning Thursday,
February 14th at
10:00am at the DeHart Community Center.
Cost: $25 for Residents, $40
for non-Residents.
Yoga for Seniors :
Improve
yourself physically and mentally by taking Yoga Classes. Yoga
improves you
flexibility and your core strength. Classes will run for 10
weeks. Classes will take place at the DeHart Community Center.
There are two
choices for classes:
Monday classes
begin on April 1st at 11:30am
or
Friday classes begin on March 15th
at 9:00am
Cost:
$25 for residents, $40 for non-Residents.
Tai Chi for Seniors:
Burn
calories while improving your balance control and flexibility. Tai Chi
is a low
impact exercise that offers many health benefits. Classes will
run for 10 weeks and are held at the DeHart Community Center.
There are two choices for

for Residents, $40 for non-Residents.
Senior Aerobics:
Senior Aerobics is a
program designed for
senior citizens that combines
aerobics with strength training. The
classes
will run for 10
weeks and
are held at the DeHart Community Center.
There are two
classes to choose from:

Tuesday classes begin on April 16th at
10:00am
Cost:
$25 for Residents, $40 for non-Residents.
Toning for Seniors :
Toning
for Seniors is a class for adults age 40 and up. It
is geared
toward keeping adults looking and feeling fit.
Classes will run for 10 weeks beginning
Wednesday, February 20th at
10:00am at the DeHart Community Center.
Cost: $25 for Residents, $40 for
non-Residents .
Light Pilates: for ages, 40, 50 and up
This class will focus on
core strengthening exercises. Please bring an
exercise
mat, weights and bands if you have
them.
Classes will run for 10 weeks beginning
Thursday, February 20th and will
be held at 2:00pm at the DeHart Community
Center.
Cost: $25 for Residents, $40 for
non-Residents.
Zumba:
Come
out and dance your way to better health!
Zumba classes will run for 10 weeks
beginning Thursday, March 21st
from 2:00pm-3:00pm at the DeHart Community
Center.
Cost: $25 for Residents, $40 for non-Residents.

Senior Club Meeting: Wednesday,

Community Center.
Live Music! : Wednesday,
April 3rd, 10:30am , immediately
following the Senior Club Meeting, Winston, a soft rock/
r&b/ smooth jazz/ pop artist band will perform. This
event is free for Maplewood Residents age 55+.
Shore Trip to Ocean Grove: Wednesday,
April 17th, at 9:30am , there will be a
Shore Trip to Ocean Grove. Go by the Township Bus
with Michelle Wesley. The bus leaves at 9:30am from
the DeHart Community Center. Seats won't last so sign
up fast! Call Michelle to register at (973) 763-0750.
Trip to Newark Museum: Wednesday,
April 24th, 11:15am. There will be a trip
to the Newark Museum. The bus will leave from the
DeHart Community Center at 11:15am. Join the trip for
a docent-led tour of African Cosmos: Stellar Arts, the
first major exhibition exploring the historical legacy of
African cultural astronomy and it's intersection with
both traditional and contemporary African Arts. Lunch
is approximately $15 and the two docent tours are
$11 + $2=$13. In total, the trip will cost around $30.

The Four Faces of Elder Law: Thursday,
April 25th at 6:30pm . The Four Faces of
Elder Law is a presentation which will take place
at the Hilton Branch Library at 1688 Springfield
Ave. Elder Law Attorney Eric Goldberg will talk
about: completing your estate planning documents,
determining eligibility for VA Benefits, long term
care planning, stretching out your assets. This
presentation will also include a segment on the 9
common mistakes that families make as loved ones
age.

April 27th - Saturday, from 5pm-9pm

Trip to the Shore: There will be a trip to the Jersey Shore in May. The
date for the trip has not been released yet. Stay

Senior Lunch Schedule:
Senior Lunches are held at the Maplewood Community Center at 120
Burnett Ave. They take place on Wednesdays at 12:00noon sharp and
are for residents who are 62 and up. All meals include soft drinks, coffee
& tea, and dessert. Please call (973) 763-4202 two days prior to the
lunch to RSVP to give us enough time to shop! All meals are subject to
change. Please feel free to let us know what you'd like to have! Here is
the planned schedule:
April 10: Pizza from the Village Trattoria
April 24: Chicken Pot Pie, made in house
May 15: Cinco de Mayo Celebration, made in house
May 22: Sausage & Peppers, made in house
May 29: Hamburgers & Hot Dogs on the Grill, made in house
